I just had to share this beautiful new book with all of you: Stitched in Time: Memory-Keeping Projects to Sew and Share from the Creator of Posie Gets Cozy by Alicia Paulson.

Stitched in Time is a collection of thirty creative, crafty projects to make (sew, quilt, embroider, stencil, etc.) that are all about preserving memories. Some of my favorites are the family recipe apron (pictured above), birthday banner (pictured below), and a quilt made of scraps of your child’s favorite baby clothes. Alicia also has a lovely blog, Posie Gets Cozy.

I am not a big fan of clutter, and it seems to me that once you have made something (the baby-clothes-quilt, for instance) out of scraps of your old memories, you would be left with one beautiful and useful item instead of boxes of stuff you never look at. What I love about some of the other projects in the book (like the family recipe apron) is how they take small, cherished things that may otherwise be hidden or forgotten about, and bring them front and center.
